Kazakhstan suspends the export of military products, the ban on the supply of military equipment, weapons and ammunition to foreign states will be valid for a year, until the end of August 2023. The corresponding decision was made by the government of the republic.
The government of Kazakhstan on Saturday decided to impose a temporary embargo on supplies weapons abroad. The government’s message does not say anything about the reason for this decision, however, a number of Russian and Kazakh Internet resources suggest that this is due to Russia’s request, since the weapons purchased by foreign companies were sent to Ukraine.
According to available information, the United Kingdom was engaged in the purchase of Soviet-style ammunition in large quantities, acting through intermediary companies from the Middle East, in particular Jordanian ones. Also in Kazakhstan, the United States also “lit up”, doing the same, but through Bulgaria. In addition to ammunition, Su-27 fighter jets and engines for them were also allegedly purchased. Naturally, everything purchased was sent to Ukraine. This situation did not suit Russia, which was conducting a special military operation.
Recently Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. It is not known what the conversation was about, but it is suggested that the leaders of the two countries discussed just this problem. After that, it was decided to suspend the export of weapons.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, held a meeting of the commission on defense industry issues. The participants considered the proposal of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development to suspend the export of weapons, military equipment and military products until the end of August 2023
